I had the pleasure of going to my son’s game of basketball on Friday. He is at Napier Boys and plays for a rather social team called the NBHS Buckets. They played your school’s team and were soundly thrashed!
I know very little about the game nor am I a coach but happened to be scoring for the game. The game was played in excellent spirits and everyone was happy. After the game a number of Flaxmere students came to me directly and shook my hand to thank me for whatever it was that I did – I can assure you, it wasn’t much!
The boys’ courtesy and professionalism was quite a thing to see and I thought that you should hear it from one of the public in an age where complaints instead of compliments seem to be the norm.
Congratulations on instilling these values into these (very tall and skilful) young men and I wish them and your school all the very best in the future.
